Location, Location, Location...

If you’re reading this, chances are we’ve booked a session together. I am SO excited to bring your story to life.

One of the most important elements of each session is the location. It’s the anchor point around which everything else is organized. It can impact what you decide to wear. It sets the stage, the vibe, and the theme.

This page contains some location ideas and samples of sessions taken there.

Colgate University

(HAMILTON, NY) Colgate photo sessions are known for their pretty walkway lined with trees on each side. But there is also a lot of nice brick architecture, as well as stone steps, stone walls, and a pond.

Hamilton College/ Root Glen

(CLINTON, NY) There are almost too many good photo spots here. With a beautiful wooded trail, a creek, a garden, stone benches, stone steps, as well as brick architecture across the street and a field 1 minute up the street. The trail does require walking uphill.

Someone who wants a more "unique" location idea might decide against Root Glen since it is a pretty well-known location for photos.

DOWNTOWN UTICA

(UTICA, NY) There are several spots in Utica all within close range of each other. These include the train station and a spot behind Utica Coffee. Lots of brick, graffiti, and more of an urban look.

New Hartford Public Library

(NEW HARTFORD, NY) In one small area, you can find some stone benches, a gazebo, a small wooded area, and an open field!

kIRKLAND tOWN pARK

(KIRKLAND , NY) A great spot for nature lovers. There is a creek, some woods, some open grass areas, and a nice walking path. There is a pretty steep incline and steps required to get down to the water.

Sunset Hill Cemetery

(CLINTON, NY) You wouldn't know these photos were at a cemetery. There are wooded areas, walking paths, pretty fields, and a big overlook that can sometimes have a beautiful sunset.

Back Roads In WAterville

(WATERVILLE, NY) These spots are a little more unique, considering you probably haven't seen them if you don't live in Waterville.

They are especially pretty in Winter and Fall. Janis Rd has the path in the woods, or there's Lewis Rd, which has the

gravel road lined with trees on each side. Chittning pond is also beautiful at sunset. Janis Rd. and Chittning Pond are within minutes of each other if you wanted to do both places together.

Proctor Park

(UTICA , NY) Proctor Park has absolutely beautiful stone steps, walking paths through the woods, a small bridge, and a field. There are sometimes flowers depending on the time of year.

Choosing a location doesn’t have to be grand or intimidating. Sometimes the best location is somewhere simple and local with beautiful light. Sometimes your own backyard is all you need!
